How I work

When working with a client, I draw on lots of different approaches, tailored just to you, rather than a “one size fits all” approach. What feels right for you. Sometimes just being in a room can be too much for some people, so the counselling can even happen going for a walk, so it can happen outside the confines of a room. Different things help different people. Counselling can be through talking, through art, or through play for a child.

I have run the Nottingham Miscarriage Support Group for the last seven years. I started the group after experiencing a number of miscarriages myself, and finding there was no support for women in Nottingham. This has led on to an interest in counselling for men and women affected by miscarriage, fertility and baby loss.

I am one of the first counsellors in the UK to hold the Advanced Specialist Fertility Counselling Diploma and I am a member of the British Infertility Counselling Association.

  • I hold the Advanced Diploma in Counselling and I counsel both adults and children.
  • I also hold the NNEB Diploma in Childcare and the Specialist Certificate in Counselling Children and Adolescents.
  • I have experience of support work in settings such as Women’s aid, Mental health services and Family centres.
  • I have an up to date enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
  • I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
  • On a regular basis, I attend supervision sessions.
  • I keep up to date with ongoing training and development.
  • I am also fully insured with professional liability insurance.
